Williams Formula 1 team has lost another of its key team personnel with Head of Aerodynamics Dirk De Beer leaving the outfit with immediate effect. The South African joined the team in 2017 after spending four years with Ferrari in a similar role.

Prior to his Ferrari stint, he had two long spells with Sauber and Renault/Lotus F1 Team respectively. He started his career in 2000 joining the former while he moved to the latter in 2008, where he worked until the 2013 season.

The 54-year-old’s stepping down comes after the team’s Chief Designer Ed Wood parted ways with the outfit two weeks back. The Grove-based squad has confirmed聽Dave Wheater will assume the role of Head of Aerodynamics.

At the same time, Chief Engineer聽Doug McKiernan has taken over聽full responsibility of the aerodynamic and design direction of the car. The team is facing a disastrous season where it sits last in the standings with just the four points.

Both Lance Stroll and Sergey Sirotkin have had a difficult time in adjusting with the car, especially the former who has faced bigger issues in his second season despite scoring all the four points.
