Continuing with the second part of the interview we could do to Albert Costa in the last meeting of the World Series by Renault at the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya, Albert gives his opinion on the championship this year in the GP2 Series, the poor perfomance of Coletti and his favorite for the title, Sam Bird.
AV: Albert now have to talk about GP2, have you followed the championship?
AC: Well, the beginning was Coletti the number one, who I really like and get along very well but after Monaco, Coletti has devoted much partying, or so I’ve been told, I’ve been talking to mechanics of GP2 and was told that he has left a bit thrown. That is his problem. He has left the car abandoned. I wanted Coletti to win, I spoke with him in Monaco, he told me that I should go to a party with him, that he’ll pay everything and I would sleep in his house, obviously, also the Formula 1 drivers, I have pictures of Marc Marquez, Pedrosa and Lorenzo, everyone goes out to party, everybody drinks, everyone acts as “Crazy” once, once … All, we are not abnormal people, everyone knows that. Coletti has said to me: “Let’s go party that I won today” and I said no, because I had , he tried to convince me, but that is not how I do things.
I would go but if they are not my friends, it is not the same. Then nothing, I said that he had not won the championship , take 35-40 points ahead , I want you to win , not lies. And suddenly, 0 points. No points.
And I’ve talked to people and I know that the car is the same, everything is the same, it is possible that something happens suddenly. So is the driver, it’s him. And you see his twitter and see that everything is everything is to blame the car, something is going on , right? And of course if you do not train physically and mentally, the others improve , you improve the basis on which you were starting . And of course he has told me “I’m winning , I’m good, it has accommodated”. Something is happening . And I wanted Coletti and hopefully win , to win , but things really have to go . About my point of view, now I’m following Leimer, but I’d like Bird to win, because he’s a guy that I like and know really well, I’ve been a long time with him and is a guy who has never had it easy. Then Nasr , I also get along with him but do not know too much, and of the three, I prefer Bird.”
