Prema Racing will line up Nyck De Vries for the upcoming FIA Formula 2 season. The Dutchman has had an acceptable debut in 2017 with one win and is one of the chosen drivers to replace Antonio Fuoco and Charles Leclerc.
Regarding exclusive information coming from sources related to the driver, FormulaRapida.net has recently known that Dutch driver Nyck De Vries is set to join Prema Racing to take part in the 2018 Formula 2 season. Despite neither the driver nor the team have announced it officially yet, the official confirmation shouldn’t take long to be released.
With this move, the Italian team, which has won the last two Drivers’ Championship and is still on the fight to claim its second Teams’ Championship in a row is the first of the eleven teams on the grid to unveil its line-up for the next season. As it was announced few days ago, Sean Gelael Will move from Arden International to Prema.
De Vries is now finishing his first season in Formula 2, on which he has raced for two teams (Rapax and Racing Engineering) and has obtained good results with both: he has won a race and has been on the podium five times. These results leave him, with only one race to go on the current season, seventh on the standings.
After that promising debut, the strongest team of the field has decided to line him up in order to keep winning with young talents. With his new team, the 22-year old is undoubtedly a championship contender.
With De Vries joining the team, the already expected departure of Antonio Fuoco is now a reality. The Italian driver will probably stay on the series, but the team which he will drive for is yet to be known.
The 2018 FIA Formula 2 season will start next year, the 7th of April at the Bahrein International Circuit. The line-ups of most of the teams that will be on the grid are still unconfirmed.
