VR46 seeks to combine experience and youth for the 2027 MotoGP lineup

The VR46 Racing Team aims to form a pair of riders that combines youth and experience for the 2027 MotoGP season, according to the team director, Uccio Salucci.

Meanwhile, the five factory teams have largely finalized their lineups for next year, leaving some spots available in the six satellite teams. Among them, VR46 is preparing to renew its relationship with Ducati, despite the offers received from Aprilia during the winter.

VR46 has maintained the same rider pair throughout the 2026 season, with Fabio Di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli on board the Ducati bikes. However, as a new era of 850cc in MotoGP approaches, the team is considering reorganizing its lineup.

Salucci has commented on his intention to have “an experienced rider and a young one,” acknowledging that they are in a moment of reflection to decide the future of the two current riders. “I want to focus on improving the performances of Di Giannantonio and Morbidelli before thinking about next year,” he added.

VR46 has been a breeding ground for young talent, with riders like Marco Bezzecchi and Luca Marini having secured seats in factory teams after passing through the Valentino Rossi academy. In this context, the name of Fermin Aldeguer, current Gresini rider, emerges as one of the possible signings for 2027.

Aldeguer already has an agreement with Ducati, but the company has not yet decided which satellite team he will join. While the young rider wants to continue with Gresini, VR46 is also showing interest in his services.

Salucci has pointed out that he has some options in mind, but he is determined to wait to start negotiations until after the Qatar race scheduled for April. “I want our current riders to prove their worth before making changes,” he concluded, reminding that staying among the top five will be essential for their permanence in the team.
