Visa Cash App RB has internally handled the situation dealing with one of its F1 team members potentially encouraging in boo during Brazil GP podium ceremony.
The video surfaced online after the grand prix where a fan recorded from a distant. The small video captured the moment when McLaren’s Lando Norris lifted the winning F1 Brazil GP trophy. As heard on the world feed, a certain section of fans booed him all-through the weekend.
The video had two Visa Cash App RB members in front of the podium, with one turned towards the crowd, seemingly encouraging them to boo with a thumbs down gesture. He was laughing while doing it and also recording the same, as the other team member tried to stop him.
That eight second video was enough for social media to write to Visa Cash App RB. The team has since released a small statement, noting that they have handled the matter internally and that they don’t agree with such behaviour, especially for a rival team or driver.
“We’re aware of the video from the weekend’s podium. It doesn’t reflect our team’s values or the spirit of VCARB,” said the statement. “The matter has been handled internally. We believe in celebrating great racing and showing respect to every driver, team, and fan both on and off the track.”
While there were no Visa Cash App RB drivers on the podium, but it could that they were on to cheer Red Bull’s Max Verstappen’s drive to podium from the pitlane. There are chances of them cheering for Mercedes’ Andrea Kimi Antonelli as well, considering the Italian connection of the F1 team.
