Maverick Viñales: ‘KTM sent me a contract, I signed it and two weeks later they canceled it’

Maverick Viñales has recently shared a disappointing experience with KTM, stating that he signed a contract to race in MotoGP with the Austrian team, but shortly after was informed that the document was not valid.

During a press conference at Sachsenring, the Spanish rider expressed that he feels “out of this world,” referring to his current situation in the competition. Furthermore, Viñales indicated that conversations with KTM have completely ceased, stating that “last week were the final conditions.”

Regarding his future, the rider does not foresee continuing in MotoGP, as available spots are almost nonexistent. “I don’t know what to do; when I’m on the bike, I know I’ve given everything I could, but right now I’m not looking for anything, I just want an amazing vacation,” he added.

Viñales explained that after the posts about his replacement for Fabio Di Giannantonio, he asked KTM for explanations. The contract they sent him, although not what he expected, he signed trusting in the team. After a few weeks, his hope faded when he was informed that the contract was not valid. “What can you expect after that? I don’t want to stay here. They didn’t take it seriously,” he concluded.

Despite the current frustrations, Viñales continues to show love for racing as well as for other modalities, expressing his interest in exploring different competitions in the future.
