Rafael Villagomez will continue to compete with Van Amersfoort Racing in FIA F2 for the 2025 season.

Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR) is pleased to announce that Rafael Villagómez will continue with the team for the 2025 FIA Formula 2 season, marking his second campaign in the Championship. The Mexican driver will race alongside John Bennett, finalizing VAR’s line-up for the season.

Born in León, Mexico, Rafael Villagómez began his racing career in 2020, competing in the French and British Formula 4 Championships before stepping up to FIA Formula 3 in 2021. That same year, he debuted with Van Amersfoort Racing in the Euroformula Open Championship, securing five podium finishes. In 2022, Rafael joined VAR in FIA Formula 3, followed by a move to FIA Formula 2 in 2024.

During his rookie Formula 2 season, Rafael recorded a best finish of seventh place in Australia and earned four top-ten results. Heading into his fifth season with VAR, he is eager to build on his experience and deliver even stronger performances in 2025.

Rafael will kick off his preparations for the 2025 season by joining VAR for pre-season testing in Barcelona from 24 to 26 February. The 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship will feature 14 rounds at iconic circuits such as Monaco, Silverstone, Spa, and Monza. The season opener will take place at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne from 14 to 16 March.
