The six F1 drivers returned with Round 2 of the Race for the World ESports charity event with Charles Leclerc and Alexander Albon winning.
There was a slight change in the line-up for Round 2 of the Race for the World Esports charity event led by six F1 drivers like Williams’ Nicholas Latifi & George Russell, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, Red Bull’s Alexander Albon, Alfa Romeo’s Antonio Giovinazzi and McLaren’s Lando Norris.
Among other returning, it were Arthur Leclerc (Ferrari), Christian Lundgaard (Renault), Antonio Felix da Costa (Renault), Louis Deletraz (Haas), Antonio Fuoco (Alfa Romeo), Giuliano Alesi (Racing Point), Callum Ilott (Haas), Luca Albon (Red Bull), Luca Salvadori (Toro Rosso), Thibaut Courtois (Toro Rosso) and Nick Cassidy (McLaren).
There were three new entrants with Enzo Fittipaldi (Racing Point), Jimy Broadbent (Mercedes) and Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes). For the first F1 race, they used Spa-Francorchamps as following a practice, Giovinazzi took pole from Lundgaard and C Leclerc.
But with few technical issues, they had to abort it and go with one-lap qualifying where L Albon took pole from C Leclerc and Norris. It was a much smoother race with the Monegasque winning in the 11 laps after a good battle with Brit.
It was podium for Lundgaard in third as A Leclerc in fourth ahead of debutant Vandoorne with L Albon in sixth, Salvadori seventh, Broadbent eighth, Latifi ninth and Courtois 10th. Among the F1 racers, A Albon was 12th with Russell 13th and Giovinazzi 14th.
The second F1 race took place at Baku City Circuit with Lundgaard on pole ahead of Norris and L Albon but they had to resort to one-lap shoot-out again after troubles with the server, which helped A Albon to take pole from A Leclerc and L Albon.
It was a chaotic start as A Albon took the lead with C Leclerc storming up to second from 10th. It was status quo at the front through with the Thai racer winning from the Monegasque as L Albon rounded out the podium positions.
With Norris and Russell out of the game, Latifi was fourth from Vandoorne and Deletraz as Courtois was seventh after winning the battle against da Costa, while Fittipaldi and A Leclerc completed the Top 10. Giovinazzi finished 15th in the end as they reached to just over 48 thousand dollars in their goal of 100 thousand dollars in charity.
