The Brazilian got the lead on the first corner and didn’t let it go until the end. Cecotto gets another podium starting from 6th and the leader of the Championship, Jolyon Palmer, finishes 3rd.
Daniel Abt and Artem Markelov were in the first row of the grid, but it wasn’t a good beginning for either of them. Markelov had a bad start, but was able to hold the 4th position after the first corner. Abt lost the lead of the race to Nasr, who got the inside of La Source. After Eau Rouge, Cecotto got very close to Markelov and overtook him.
In Les Combes, Palmer tried to overtake Abt, but had to go straight and cut the corner leaving the German driver with wheelspin, which allowed Cecotto to get through him. Markelov made contact with Marciello, which left the Russian with a damaged car and losing many positions and the Italian spun in the middle of the track.
Cecotto was able to overtake Palmer and was second behind Nasr. In spite of having kept a short distance with the Brazilian during most of the race, the Venezuelan couldn’t make it and the victory was for Nasr. Abt lost P4 to Mith Evans in the last laps. Vandoorne was 6th ahead of an impressive Coletti, who started 24th on the grid. Negrao got the last point of the race in 8th.
