Victory for Bedrin at Silverstone as his GB3 rivals face setbacks

In a standout second race of the GB3 championship held at Silverstone, Vladimir Bedrin has secured another victory, pulling away from his rivals who faced several technical issues.

The race began with surprises as Martin Molnar from Rodin Motorsport, who had been Bedrin’s main threat in the first race, was left on the grid due to mechanical issues. After a tense start, Bedrin temporarily lost the lead to Deagen Fairclough from Hitech GP, who capitalized better on the start.

However, Bedrin quickly reclaimed the lead, passing Fairclough once again in the Maggotts and Becketts corners. By the end of the first lap, the Russian maintained the lead, while Rodin drivers Maxim Rehm and Abbi Pulling occupied third and fourth positions respectively.

The race situation became complicated when Peter Bouzinelos of Hilspeed stopped, prompting the safety car deployment. With the restart, Bedrin managed to open a small gap over Fairclough, who could not maintain the lead after his vehicle failed on the Hangar Straight.

After another restart, Bedrin defended his lead against Rehm in the early laps and crossed the finish line with a 0.8-second advantage. Rehm stated after the race: “We are doing a good job consistently, but I still feel we lack pace compared to Bedrin. We will know what is missing as the season progresses, and this weekend has given us a good opportunity for the championship.”

The battle for third place was filled with drama. Patricio Gonzalez passed Pulling on the penultimate lap, but she regained position on the outside of Stowe, triggering an incident that ended with both drivers retiring from fourth, promoting Lucas Fluxa to third place. Fluxa, who started from eighth position, drove intelligently, taking advantage of the incidents ahead of him.

The competition was intense, with Jin Nakamura from Hitech finishing fourth, and Fluxa’s teammate Rowan Campbell-Pilling finishing in fifth place. The fight between the Gonzalez brothers culminated with Rodrigo, who finished seventh after a fierce battle against Alex Kattoulas and Leon Wilson.
