Sebastian Vettel took the victory at Suzuka ahead of his teammate Webber and Romain Grosjean.

After a bad start to the two Red Bull, Grosjean and Hamilton led the race at the first corner. However, Hamilton had a puncture and had to pit. A few laps later, he had to abandon from the race permanently. Grosjean and Webber chose a three-stop strategy, while Vettel did only two. Webber could overtake Grosjean a few laps before the end, but could not catch Vettel.
Alonso was fourth after a career in which he fought a lot with Hulkenberg and Massa. The Brazilian finished 10th after a drive-through penalty for speeding in the pit lane.
A very bad race for Mercedes, with Rosberg eighth due to a drive-through and Hamilton out. Just the opposite of Sauber: Hulkenberg finished sixth and seventh Gutiérrez, achieving his first points in F1.
