Sebastian Vettel led the 3rd free practice session ahead of Max Verstappen and Kimi Räikkönen. The Mercedes didn’t show their full potential with some power issues for Hamilton and by setting their times earlier than their rivals.
Räikkönen was on top halfway through the session ahead of Ricciardo and Vettel with the ultrasoft, while the Mercedes were left 4 tenths behind with the supersoft. Hamilton reported a loss of power, but he went back on track with the ultrasoft and went 1st 0.1s ahead of Rosberg, who was 5 tenths ahead of Räikkönen.
Vettel surprised with a time 3 tenths faster than Hamilton‘s. Finally, the German driver took the fastest time of the session ahead of Verstappen, Räikkönen, Hamilton, Rosberg, Ricciardo, Pérez, Hülkenberg, Bottas and Gutiérrez.
