Verstappen, Norris amused by trophy incident in Hungarian GP

Max Verstappen and Lando Norris take it in fun after the latter broke the former’s winning F1 Hungarian GP trophy during podium celebrations.

Having cleanly dominated the F1 Hungarian GP with a victory by 33s, Red Bull’s Verstappen had his only blip during the podium celebrations when McLaren’s Norris accidentally broke the winning trophy of the Dutchman while he opened his champagne.

Norris had a style of thumping the champagne bottle on the podium and when he did so, the trophy fell and broke, much to the amusement of both the drivers. The trophy broke from the bottom which not only ensued a conversation between teams but drivers too.

Norris: “I’m not sure. Yeah. I’m not sure. Max just placed it too close to the edge.”

Verstappen: “I’m going to take it off next time.”

Norris: “Yeah, just hold it. I don’t know. It fell over, I guess. Not my problem. It’s his.”

Here’s how the teams reacted:
