Max Verstappen says racing drivers deal with various things after it came to light that he had blurry vision aftermath the Silverstone collision in F1 2021.
In a Red Bull bulletin earlier this year, Verstappen for the first time revealed that he had blurry vision during the second half of the 2021 F1 season when he was in an intense battle against Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton for the drivers’ championship.
He did not specify when he got the issue but all the pointers were towards the 2021 British GP collision at Silverstone, where Verstappen had to go to the hospital while Hamilton took the win despite the time penalty handed to the Brit for causing a heavy collision.
When asked about the same, Verstappen noted to racing drivers having lots of things that they go through during their career which they have to endure anyhow. He did visit the doctors but as the years went, it mended on its own without much to do.
“I was just in 2021, but after that, it went away,” revealed Verstappen to media. “But it did occur back then. It didn’t happen before [Silverstone], let’s say it like that. It’s not something that I would advise for people to have while driving. But we are racing drivers, you deal with all sorts of stuff.
“Everyone is walking around here, but always here and there people have like little injuries or whatever. I mean, those things happen. [I talked with] people around the team and a specialist. It got cured, luckily. I don’t want to go into detail. No one needs to know,” summed up Verstappen, who was forced to clarify after fans got enraged on social media.
A certain section raised fingers on the FIA rule where F1 drivers have to inform of any issues which could lead to mishaps during the course of a grand prix. It is unclear if Verstappen did refer it with the governing body as they didn’t wish to get into the details.
