Jean-Eric Vergne set the fastest time in the second qualifying session for Saturday’s Visa London ePrix ahead of championship leader Nelson Piquet Jr and e.dams-Renault driver Nicolas Prost.

The Andretti driver moved to the top of the timesheets with a few minutes of the session remaining as the drivers turned up the power for their qualifying simulation laps. Piquet Jr tried to close the gap to Vergne but the Brazilian locked up at the final corner and remained in second.

The second session had been delayed for a short while and shortened by five minutes to allow for changes to be made to the track layout at Turn 1. When the lights turned green the majority of the field headed out onto the track to acclimatise to the changes.

Prost was the early frontrunner just ahead of his e.dams-Renault team-mate Sebastien Buemi. Prost ended the session in third while Buemi, who currently sits third in the championship standings, finished in sixth place.

Salvador Duran was forced to take to the escape road at Turn 3 but the Mexican driver was able to reverse away without trouble. His Amlin Aguri team-mate Sakon Yamamoto was not so lucky when he locked up and hit the wall at the final corner, causing damage to his front wing.

Jerome D’Ambrosio was fourth quickest for Dragon Racing ahead of Audi Sport ABT’s Lucas di Grassi.

Daniel Abt ended up in seventh place ahead of practice one pacesetter Stephane Sarrazin and Duran, with Nick Heidfeld rounding out the top 10.
