Vasseur will not attend Saturday of the Monaco Grand Prix

Fred Vasseur, the team principal of Formula 1’s Scuderia Ferrari, will not be present at the Monaco Grand Prix this Saturday due to ongoing medical examinations. The head of Ferrari is under observation at a local medical center, meaning he will not participate in the scheduled track activities.

The situation will be overseen by his deputy, Jerome d’Ambrosio, who has held this position since October 2024, after his stint at Mercedes. In a statement issued by the team, it is confirmed that “no further medical information will be provided” and a speedy recovery is wished for Vasseur.

The Ferrari drivers have high expectations, as their car, the SF-26, has shown good performance in low-speed corners, a skill demonstrated in the two free practice sessions, where they managed to position themselves first and second.

In the first session, Charles Leclerc clocked a time of 1m13.978s, 0.226s faster than Lewis Hamilton. However, in the second session, Hamilton closed the gap and surpassed him by 0.111s. The competition is intense, with eyes set on the goal of ending Mercedes’s winning streak this season, which has won all races so far.

Vasseur was cautious and underscored the importance of not getting complacent. “There is a lot of time between Friday’s first session and qualifying,” he commented, acknowledging the challenge of anticipating track conditions. Leclerc also expressed concerns over the high competitiveness of Red Bull and McLaren, anticipating a close qualifying session.
