Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton was fastest in FP2 of F1 US GP with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in second and Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen third.

After investing his time to run the 2020 prototype tyres in FP1, Hamilton did a proper race run in FP2 of F1 US GP which he ended up on top with a 1m33.232s lap as the British racer only ran the soft and hard compounds early on, with only handful of laps on mediums.

Hamilton had his lap times deleted as well along with plenty others. Behind him, Ferrari’s Leclerc (1m33.533s) was second with Red Bull’s Verstappen (1m33.547s) was third, the duo also having offs at certain stages of the session.

Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel (1m133.890s) was fourth, with the German having a scrappy run which included a 360 degree spin at Turn 13 as well. Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas (1m34.045s) was fifth with Red Bull’s Alexander Albon (1m34.434s) sixth.

Albon had an off too with the best of the rest mantle going to Toro Rosso’s Pierre Gasly (1m34.509s) in seventh, with McLaren’s Carlos Sainz (1m34.667s) slotting in eighth ahead of Racing Point’s Lance Stroll (1m34.744s).

The Top 10 was then rounded out by Alfa Romeo Racing’s Antonio Giovinazzi (1m34.839s), who had a 360 degree spin too. Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo (1m34.924s) just missed out in 11th with Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat (1m34.975s) 12th – the Russian enduring a spin.

Renault’s Nico Hulkenberg (1m34.988s) was 13th with McLaren’s Lando Norris (1m35.025s) 14th as the likes of Racing Point’s Sergio Perez (1m35.109s) and Alfa Romeo’s Kimi Raikkonen (1m35.387s) struggled in 15th and 16th.

The Haas of Kevin Magnussen (1m35.422s) slotted in 17th as teammate Romain Grosjean (1m35.789s) was only 18th after his crash earlier in the session, which caused the red flag. Williams’ George Russell (1m36.749s) and Robert Kubica (1m37.382s) were 19th and 20th.
