Two Audis on top in Practice of DTM

Motorsports: DTM race Hockenheim, Saison 2017 - 1. Event Hockenheimring, GER, # 99 Mike Rockenfeller (GER, Audi Sport Team Phoenix, Audi RS5 DTM)

Audi dominated proceedings in free practice of the DTM at the Lausitzring on Friday. All six drivers of the brand ended up in the top eight. Mike Rockenfeller posted the fastest time, 97 hundredths of a second faster than his fellow Audi driver Mattias Ekström. In third place, Robert Wickens ended up as the best-placed Mercedes-AMG driver from Jamie Green, who won both races here in 2015. The leader in the drivers’ standings, Mercedes-AMG driver Lucas Auer was classified fifth. With Tom Blomqvist on top, the six BMW drivers locked out eleventh to 16th place. Mike Rockenfeller was the most prolific driver with 25 laps completed. Audi’s Loïc Duval, who was classified eighth, completed the lowest number of laps, 17.

“We did long runs and focused on the race. Now, we have to sit down and take a close look. I wasn’t entirely happy with the car. Compared to the others, however, our performance was pretty good. At the end of the long runs, we have to make sure that we improve the details that I don’t really like, and then, hopefully, we are in with a good chance tomorrow,” Mike Rockenfeller commented after his fastest time of 1m17.278s.
