Yuki Tsunoda says he shit in his pants after a moment during F1 Brazil GP, as he was happy with points finish even though he couldn’t get Lewis Hamilton.

The last few races has been solid ones for AlphaTauri’s Tsunoda, where he has scored points along with Daniel Ricciardo to bring them closer to Williams in the fight for seventh. They have jumped two places up from last to sit eighth by seven points to seventh.

The F1 Brazil GP was double for Tsunoda, who not just scored in the sprint race but did so in the main race as well after coming from the back of the grid to ninth. That included a big moment at Turn 10 when he nearly lost the car on the grass.

After the happenings in Mexico, Tsunoda was relieved that he didn’t bin it while accepting his mistake. He was so scared that he nearly shit in his pants. Towards the end, he was catching a struggling Lewis Hamilton, but there was some reliability issue that hurt him.

“That was a big mistake,” Tsunoda said to media. “I apologised to the team. “It was a bit scary I actually, I shit my pants. Luckily I didn’t expect a DNF. Overall, the race was good. Unfortunate for Daniel at the end, his pace was really good. I think also he changed a bit of set-up and I think we got good data, he was quite fast.

“So yeah, I think it was really good overall from the team. I struggled in the end with a reliability issue, but luckily we were able to bring the car home. Definitely I could have done more. Sorry for the team. In the end I wasn’t able to push to the maximum for several reasons. I don’t know about Pierre, but Lewis quite a high chance to catch, but P15 to P9 is still good.” summed up Tsunoda.
