Yuki Tsunoda hasn’t tried the lines that Daniel Ricciardo takes as in F1 2023, he didn’t feel like he had to do adapt to anything different.

Having been in a position where he has to learn from his teammates, Visa Cash App RB’s Tsunoda didn’t have to in 2023 when he felt he didn’t had to pick anything from his teammates as he had it under control on his own throughout.

Even though he saw what Ricciardo was doing differently, he didn’t adapt to it since he was on his own driving well. But if in 2024, it requires different style, he wouldn’t shy away from trying it. He appreciates the Australian to be a good reference.

“Always your team-mate is your biggest rival, but I think he’s [Ricciardo] giving good feedback,” said Tsunoda. “I’m learning from him already with quite a lot of things, especially how he behaves towards the team. It is quite different to me, especially as it is quite the opposite, which I wanted to fix, and he’s a really good reference driver.

“He is giving overall positiveness to the team. We don’t create the time to sit down together and talk about things, but when we have the time, like going to a drivers’ meeting or when he’s sitting in the same car, we talk as normal. We’re quite different drivers with our style, and what we require from the team about the car is different.

“Actually it is a good thing for me with different driving style. I can have a good idea of good options or something different with a different style, so it gives me options to go even faster. I didn’t try yet because I know how to drive this year’s car fast and to make the car fast. So far, it is working. For me, so far, I don’t have to change.

“I think the driving style…I don’t how 2024 car is going to be, it depends on probably the car’s behaviour. So for me, it is more like I want to add up to the car’s behaviour and maximise the performance rather than stick to my driving style. If the 2024 car requires different driving style than 2023, I’ll try to adapt that and I’ll see how it goes,” summed up Tsunoda.
