Yuki Tsunoda notes that there is definite pressure from Haas in the fight for sixth in the constructors’ championship at the halfway mark.
Having enjoyed a goodish run to start the 2024 F1 season, Visa Cash App RB is now facing competition from Haas who have risen to the task with two sixth place finishes in the fight for sixth in the constructors’. They are only seven apart after 14 rounds done.
The problem for Visa Cash App RB is their recent updates not working as expected. They have been running a hybrid one to understand, while the one for Haas has been working on better lines yielding them solid points results to close in.
Tsunoda admits that the pressure is certainly coming through from Haas and they have to keep their nose ahead in the races after the summer break. “We know which package is preferable with old and new aero package at least,” said the Japanese to media.
“And its pretty clear that if you compare with what we were using in Silverstone, we are pretty happy with the conclusion. Actually, it was good that we were able to, I wouldn’t say fail, but kind of misunderstood the direction. Therefore, now we understand from that a lot of key things for the future development. So, looks like we’re all good.
“Definitely, Haas are really fast in aero efficient tracks. They are already being strong competitors. We need to score a lot of points to extend, hopefully the seven points difference will increase. We have struggled off late, so let’s see. Haas is definitely in our battle.
“We want to start the second half of the season leading the top midfield. So still we will for sure give 100% of performance hopefully. That is my job and why I get paid. So I will do much as I can,” summed up Tsunoda.
