The Trident team will persist with their court case against its former driver Santino Ferrucci for unpaid amount for competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship.

Trident had terminated Ferrucci’s contract following a dispute between the driver and the team during the Silverstone F2 round where the American driver deliberately hit teammate Arjun Maini after the end of the sprint race.

Not only that, Ferrucci was found to be using phone inside the F2 car and did not attend the stewards meeting thenafter. As a result, the FIA banned him from the events in Hungaroring and Spa-Francorchamps while also handing him with a huge fine.

In a further blow, Ferrucci was dropped by Trident for the remainder of the F2 season, replacing him with Alessio Lorandi alongside Maini. The Italian team initiated legal proceedings against the driver and his father, Michael Ferrucci.

The Court of Milan has since initiated an order where Ferrucci has to pay Euro 502.000 to Trident for all the damages with the team going ahead with the legal action to obtain the amount unpaid by the driver to the outfit.

“Trident Motorsport informs to have obtained by the Court of Milan an order of payment for an amount of Euro 502.000, plus interest and legal fees, against Mr. Santino Ferrucci and its guarantor, an American company represented by Mr. Michael Ferrucci, in relation to the driver’s failure to pay the amounts due under the contract.

“Trident Motorsport confirms its intention to proceed with any legal action in order to obtain compensation for all damages suffered, well above the amount so far retained, as interim measure, by the Court,” a statement from the team read.

Meanwhile, Ferrucci remains part of the Haas Formula 1 Team as they find no reason to terminate his contract – although he has not attended any F1 race since Silverstone, not even last weekend’s US GP.

The team though will take a call to part ways with Ferrucci if the American driver continues on the path of IndyCar in 2019. He competed in the last two rounds of the American single-seater championship in 2018 with Dale Coyne Racing.
