Track and Logo of the IndyCar Unveiled in Washington D.C.

The track for the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington D.C. has been revealed. This competition will mark the first time an IndyCar event will be held around the National Mall, scheduled for August 22 and 23, 2026.

The temporary circuit will have a length of 1.7 miles and seven turns, passing by iconic monuments such as the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol. This race will be part of the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, with free entry for the public.

The race will start with a 0.4-mile straight on Pennsylvania Avenue, with a pit stop area located between turns 1 and 2. The vehicles will compete in front of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, the National Gallery of Art, and the National Archives, offering both a technical and scenic layout.

Josef Newgarden, an IndyCar champion, expressed his excitement about the new circuit: “It’s a track like no other. There are high-speed sections and technical corners that will demand great precision. Competing in such a historic environment will be an extraordinary experience”.

The Freedom 250 Grand Prix has been officially announced through an executive order from President Donald J. Trump, who emphasized the event’s significance for the country. Its celebration has the support of prominent political figures, including Ambassador Monica Crowley and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.

In addition to the track, the event’s logo has been presented, featuring an Indy car in front of the dome of the Capitol, designed with the patriotic colors of the United States. At the same time, an IndyCar vehicle decorated with a red, white, and blue livery will travel across the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia regions to promote the event as the race date approaches.

With a race format like this, the Freedom 250 Grand Prix is not only presented as a sporting competition but also as a unique opportunity to celebrate American creativity and ingenuity during such a significant moment in the country’s history.
