Toprak Razgatlioglu talks about the difficulties with Yamaha

Toprak Razgatlioglu, rider for Pramac Racing, has opened the door to the possibility of retiring during races due to the difficulties he has encountered in his debut in the MotoGP category with a non-competitive Yamaha. His adaptation to the top class has not been easy and he has achieved only one point in the first four races of the season.

The new V4 model of the M1 has been a constant source of frustration for Razgatlioglu, who has expressed his concerns about the bike’s performance, which he considers the slowest on the grid. In particular, he has found issues with the braking system, a key aspect of his riding that prevents him from utilizing his usual strength.

After a complicated weekend in Jerez, where he achieved two victories in the Superbike category, Razgatlioglu confessed to feeling “very upset” and “sad” due to the lack of results. “The bike wasn’t working and it wasn’t braking properly. We have problems with the engine brakes; that leaves me with no options,” he commented.

This frustration has led him to consider retirement during races, a thought that has arisen in critical moments: “At times I’ve thought about going back to the pit. We’re working hard, but it’s difficult. The rival bikes are faster because I can’t stop like I should. Sometimes I realize that I need better performance at the start of the races.”

The rider highlighted that the problems become more evident at the beginning of the races, when other riders take advantage of the superiority of their bikes. “I’ve spoken with my technicians to see what we can improve in the first and last sections of the race. There’s too much difference,” he added.

Despite the difficulties, Razgatlioglu is confident in continuing to work to adapt better to the bike. He also shared his disappointment at seeing other Yamaha riders, like Fabio Quartararo, fighting for competitive results, creating a constant pressure environment for the team.

Yamaha has accumulated only fourteen points in the team standings, with Jack Miller having no points this year with Pramac, which intensifies concerns about the competition.
