Driver Toni Breidinger has lost the opportunity to compete in the NASCAR Truck in New Hampshire after a strategic switch that did not yield the expected results for the Rackley W.A.R. team. A total of five drivers were unable to qualify for the race, including Dawson Sutton, who is now the team’s only full-time driver.
Sutton, who usually drives the No. 26 Chevrolet, was moved to the No. 27 to help Breidinger qualify for the race. This decision was made in an attempt to optimize the team’s chances of securing two entries. Breidinger, for her part, had tried to qualify on five occasions during the season, with two unsuccessful attempts and three started.
The plan, however, became complicated when Sutton suffered serious brake issues during the only practice session on Friday, which prevented him from completing a satisfactory lap to achieve qualification.
Breidinger, who managed to enter the race as 34th out of 41 entries thanks to team points, will be left out of the competition after the team’s decision to prioritize its full-time driver. Thus, Sutton will reclaim the No. 26 for competition.
This event occurs at a critical moment, as New Hampshire Motor Speedway is the last race of the regular season. The top ten drivers in the standings will have the opportunity to compete in the playoffs.
In addition to the mentioned drivers, pilots Mason Massey, Derek White, and DL Wilson will also be unable to participate in the event, adding to the list of non-qualifiers for this NASCAR Truck event.
