Timo Glock wins Race 2 of the DTM in Hockenheim

After finishing P3 in yesterday’s race, Timo Glock has done even better today and his win was the icing on the cake for this weekend in Hockenheim. He won from pole today, but he had to fight hard against yesterday’s winner, Mercedes’ Gary Paffet.

Paffet was on the lead of the race in several moments of the race, but Timo Glock fought hard, even making contact several times, and got ahead of him. This battle allowed Rockenfeller to catch up and even overtake Paffet for P2.

Four drivers crossed the line less than 4 seconds apart from each other in the fight for P4, which was finally for BMW’s Joel Eriksson, ahead of Duval (Audi), Wehrlein (Mercedes) and Rast (Audi). Spengler (BMW) ended P8 in no-man’s land, but behind him Di Resta (Mercedes) and Farfus (BMW) completed the top 10 just one tenth apart from each other.

It was not Juncadella‘s lucky day. His Mercedes stalled at the start after a jump start, for which he got a 5s penalty, so he lost any chance of getting a good result from P7. It wasn’t a great day for Mattias Ekström (Audi) either in his last DTM race. The Swede announced his retirement from the category to focus on the Rallycross championship. However, he reached an agreement to take part in this last race for him, but he had a disappointing farewell in P17 yesterday and P16 today.

The DTM championship will be back in two weeks at the German track of Lausitzring, in Klettwitz.
