Jerez hosts this week a series of private MotoGP tests, in which three of the five manufacturers in the category participate. Aprilia, KTM, and Yamaha will use both Michelin and Pirelli tires as part of their preparations for the new season.
After completing the two official preseason tests in Sepang and Buriram, as well as the Thailand Grand Prix, these teams have sent their test and development riders to the spectacular Spanish circuit. Aprilia and KTM, with limitations due to concessions, have presented with test riders, while Yamaha, enjoying more freedom, has its regular riders available.
In particular, Lorenzo Savadori is conducting the tests for Aprilia, while KTM may count on Pol Espargaro or Dani Pedrosa. Yamaha, on the other hand, can choose any of its riders, including Fabio Quartararo or Alex Rins, although initially, the participation of test riders like Augusto Fernandez and Andrea Dovizioso is suggested.
The Jerez test is significant as 2027 season tires will be revealed, along with the Michelin tires for 2026. KTM and Yamaha have already presented their 2027 prototypes in previous tests and are preparing to make adjustments with the new tires.
Aprilia, which has recently stood out with its 2026 model, is also testing Pirelli tires, but there is no confirmation that they will present their 2027 prototype in this context.
Ducati, which initially planned to participate in this test, has decided to focus on the tests it will conduct in Misano in mid-April, where rider Nicolo Bulega will drive its 2027 prototype.
With these tests, it is expected that by mid-April all MotoGP manufacturers will have used their prototypes for the 2027 season, marking a key moment in the preparation for the new season.
