The Sepang International Circuit will close from 15th February to May 8th in order to resurface the 5543km of the Malaysian track.

Updated in 2007 for the last time, this resurfacing will allow the circuit to keep the FIA Grade 1. Modifications will affect the drainage system, kerbs, tarmac run-off areas and gravel traps at turns 1 and 15. The circuit CEO, Razlan Razali, said that due to the 98% occupation the circuit has had in the past few years, these improvements were necessaty in order to maintain the highest safety levels for all track users.

These almost 3 months where the circuit will not be functioning will not affect Formula 1, with the Malaysian GP moved to October 2nd, nor Moto GP, whose pre-season testing will start in Sepang from 1st to 3rd of February.
