Last weekend, Tech3 confirmed that it is close to making a decision on whether to continue with KTM or join forces with Honda for the new MotoGP season of 2027, which will mark the beginning of the 850cc motorcycle era.
All announcements related to the 2027 season, including driver signings and agreements with manufacturers and satellite teams, are pending the completion of new commercial agreements with MotoGP SEG, the entity that will replace Dorna Sports.
However, discussions were progressing behind the scenes, and according to reports, Honda would be interested in expanding its roster of satellite teams by incorporating Tech3, which currently has a contract with KTM.
Guenther Steiner, former team principal of Haas in Formula 1 and current CEO of Tech3, is leading the negotiations with Honda.
In an exclusive interview, Nicolas Goyon, team principal of Tech3, updated the team’s situation for the 2027 season. “All manufacturers have been in negotiations with their independent teams. We, it is true, are talking to Honda, but nothing has been decided yet,” Goyon commented.
Goyon expressed that it is essential to move quickly in the decision about the manufacturer, as the team is receiving visits from interested riders, but at present they cannot offer them a definitive project.
“The rider market is in motion, and if we do not make a decision soon, our options could diminish,” he concluded.
