TDS Racing, the French team led by Xavier Combet, has announced its return to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with a two-unit LMP2 program, marking its first effort in this category in three years.
For this season, TDS Racing will take to the track with two Oreca 07 Gibson prototypes with the aim of competing for the top spots in this highly competitive class. Car number 11 will be driven by the duo of Tobi Lutke and Mathias Beche, while number 29 will feature Stephen Thomas and Scott Huffaker.
Thomas, recently returned from the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), brings experience to the team and will be joined by Sami Meguetounif, who will debut in the IMSA with car number 11, and veteran David Heinemeier Hansson who will join number 29.
The driver combinations bring proven chemistry to the program, as Thomas, Meguetounif, and Huffaker competed together in the ELMS, where they were title contenders and achieved a class victory at Silverstone.
TDS Racing has established itself as a solid presence in the paddock since becoming a full-season participant in 2023, recently marking its forty appearance in the IMSA at the Motul Petit Le Mans. Thomas had already celebrated consecutive victories with the team at Indianapolis and Petit Le Mans during 2024 and 2025, achieving both times the Michelin Endurance Cup title.
With this new addition, TDS Racing is the first team officially confirmed in the LMP2 class for next season. Combet highlighted that ‘2027 will represent an exciting new chapter for TDS Racing’, underscoring the team’s ambition and long-term commitment to the championship.
‘We are proud to continue with Tobi, David, and Mathias, as well as welcome Steven back alongside Scott, and Sami, who will make his IMSA debut. We have built something strong over the last few seasons, and our goal is clear: to keep moving forward, fight for victories, and compete for titles,’ concluded Combet.
