The Brit celebrated a maiden podium at the series’ premiere on the Hungaroring
Nikolas Taylor had only joined Renauer Motorsport less than a fortnight before the start of the the ACCR Czech Formula season, the new Formula 4 Series for Central and Eastern Europe.
Getting to know the next generation Tatuus F4 car during the collective test a day ahead of the races, the 17-year-old also learned the Hungaroring. While struggling with understeer in race 1, Taylor had to settle for P4. However, the reigning GB4 champion capitalized on an error of rival Michael Sauter in the second race to secure his maiden podium.
Teammate Jiri Safranek who is in his rookie season in single seaters, managed to increase his race pace gradually throughout the weekend and earned himself a Top 5 result in the second run.
“It was a decent series debut for us, and Nick’s podium finish was a nice reward for all the hard work in winter. Concerning our pace, we are not yet, where we want to be, but we will come back even stronger for the next round in Austria,” team boss Sepp Renauer analysed.
In the overall standings, Taylor Is third with 27 points, while Safranek has 18 in P6.
ACCR Czech Formula will return with round 2 on May 20/21 at the Red Bull Ring, Renauer Motorsport’s home race.
