The final race of Formula 1 stepping series had a start to forget. Stoffel Vandoorne (ART Grand Prix) and Rene Binder (Lazarus) stalled their cars, as Alex Lynn (Dams) took the lead of the race from pole position, followed by Rio Haryanto (Campos Racing), and the Racing Engineering cars of Jordan King and Alexander Rossi who overtook Pierre Gasly (Dams).
The Frenchman spun at turn 2 where his countryman, Norman Nato (Arden International), contact him and pile-up with Sean Gelael (Carlin), Daniel de Jong (Trident), Nicholas Latifi (MP Motorsport). Nato also contact with Artem Markelov (Russian Time) who spun and had to retire.
Sergey Sirotkin (Rapax) and Arthur Pic (Campos Racing) crashed too when they avoid Gasly. This accident wasn’t going to help the Russian to finish as rookie champion and third in the standings in his battle with Haryanto and Evans, but the race was suspended due to this crash, and it didn’t restart.
This means no points for any driver, and a final third place in the standings for Sergey Sirotkin.
