Haas and Guenther Steiner have reached an agreement outside court to end its ongoing case which was raised by the Italian over usage of his name.
Ever since the departure of Steiner from Haas as its F1 team principal, there is no end to court cases. The Italian initiated a case against his former employers for using his image, name and ‘Drive to Survive’ popularity, without giving royalty even after his contract ended with the outfit.
Steiner demanded compensation as dues not paid to him. In counter, Haas filed a case against the Italian for using the team’s name in his book ‘Surviving to Drive’. The American F1 outfit lost the case where the court ruled in favour of the former team principal and dismissed the case.
Back to the original case filed by Steiner, the Mecklenburg County Clerk of Superior Court in North Carolina ended the dispute after about 28 hours of mediation. It was a voluntary pull out from the Italian to withdraw the case against Haas and move on from the dispute.
“Haas Formula, LLC is pleased to announce that Guenther Steiner and Haas Formula, LLC have resolved their dispute that Guenther Steiner has withdrawn all allegations previously made in his lawsuit, and all claims asserted against Haas Formula, LLC have been dismissed with prejudice,” a statement from the team said.
“Both Mr. Steiner and Haas Formula, LLC wish each other success in their future endeavours and will have no further comments on this matter.” While Haas has moved on with Ayao Komatsu at the helm, the Italian is also part of the F1 paddock undertaking pundit duties for media.
