Former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has secured a pundit role with RTL Germany for select F1 2024 races, starting in Bahrain GP.

Having not been retained by Haas for 2024 F1 season and beyond, Steiner has his first role signed up with RTL Germany. He will join presenter Florian Konig as a pundit starting with next weekend’s Bahrain GP, thereby securing his presence in the paddock.

The popular Drive to Survive face will now see F1 from the other side of the road, analysing what the teams and drivers are up to where he can give his unbiased opinion. Steiner has been roped in for the seven races that RTL Germany can broadcast.

The company has a deal with Sky Deutschland, which allows RTL Germany to broadcast seven races live and 12 qualifying/sprint for free on their channel. “Formula 1 is competition at the highest level, on the racetrack and in the paddock,” said Steiner.

“How should the drivers’ performance be evaluated and what does that mean for the organizations behind them? I look forward to examining these processes with this strong on-air team and sharing my analyzes of the racing events.”

RTL programme head Inga Leschek added: “With Guenther Steiner, we have managed to get a long-time manager and Formula 1 insider directly from the paddock in front of the RTL microphones, who will enrich our live broadcasts with current insights and plain text.”
