Spire Motorsports has issued a strong statement in response to the recent lawsuit filed by Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), which has generated intense controversy on NASCAR circuits.
JGR had accused the Spire team and former competition director Chris Gabehart of carrying out an ‘audacious plan’ to steal sensitive information, and is now seeking for the Western District Court of North Carolina to hold them in contempt for deleted text messages that are relevant to the case.
In his statement, Jeff Dickerson, co-owner of Spire, reaffirmed that the team will not be intimidated by JGR. He emphasized that JGR’s attempts to control other teams through the judicial system are unacceptable.
“The court has already rejected similar motions from JGR twice,” Dickerson stated. “The JGR team cannot control what other teams do through legal cases. Spire is pleased to defend its position in court”.
Furthermore, Dickerson stressed that recent investigations have shown that Spire Motorsports has committed no wrongdoing: “I am very proud of what we have achieved. Our team works tirelessly to succeed”.
With three vehicles in the NASCAR Cup Series, Spire is having its best season, with two victories and the participation of Carson Hocevar and Daniel Suarez in the quest for the 2026 championship.
