Red Bull’s Max Verstappen topped a sedate F1 Spanish GP from Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
It was much more clean F1 Spanish GP FP3 session as Red Bull’s Max Verstappen fought back to set the fastest time with a 1m17.835s lap ahead of Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton (1m18.070s), where the two led the two Ferrari drivers.
It was Charles Leclerc (1m18.308s) ahead of Carlos Sainz (1m18.410s), with Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas (1m18.423s) only fifth ahead McLaren’s Lando Norris (1m18.494s) and AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly (1m18.535s), where the latter had a late improvement.
Norris could have had a better lap, but for an off on his fast lap. McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo (1m18.582s), meanwhile, dropped to eighth after a late lap from Gasly. Alfa Romeo Racing’s Kimi Raikkonen (1m18.597s) had a superb run in ninth.
The Finn had a slow puncture but it didn’t deter him, while the Top 10 was rounded out by Red Bull’s Sergio Perez (1m18.606s), who couldn’t match or get close to his teammate. Alpine’s Fernando Alonso missed out of the Top 10 to be 11th.
Teammate Esteban Ocon was 13th behind AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda, as Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll was 14th, with teammate Sebastian Vettel only 17th – both the Aston Martin F1 drivers losing time after a solid FP1 and FP2 sessions.
Ahead of Vettel were Williams’ George Russell in 15th, with Alfa Romeo’s Antonio Giovinazzi in 16th, as Williams’ Nicholas Latifi, Haas’ Mick Schumacher & Nikita Mazepin rounded out the 20 runners in F1 Spanish GP FP3 session.
