The Tech 1 Racing team, 4-time Formula Renault 3.5 Series champion, is preparing for another season in the context of the World Series by Renault. The Toulouse-based squad has taken on a heavy hitter, Marco Sørensen from Denmark, Lotus F1 Team reserve and development driver. Sørensen will be sponsored by Saxo Bank.

Tech 1 Racing is determined to clinch its fifth teams’ title in eight years and the team has opted for experience and talent. Lotus F1 Junior Team driver Dane Marco Sørensen, recently promoted to the post of reserve and development driver for the Lotus F1 squad, has joined the ranks of the most-titled outfit in the World Series by Renault.

“To continue our series we need to have two first-class drivers capable of scoring big points in every race” says Simon Abadie, the Tech 1 Racing team manager. “So we’re very happy to welcome Marco Sørensen to our team. He’s a very quick driver who’s already showed his talent in the Formula Renault 3.5 series as we’ve been able to see over the past two seasons,” continues Abadie.

Sorensen has racked up three victories in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series and he now has everything he needs to aim for the title in the category. His results have attracted attention in his home country and the online investment bank, Saxo Bank founded in 1992 in Copenhagen, has decided to back him in 2014.

“Since the tests we carried out at Motorland Aragon in November 2013 we’re convinced that we can do a good job together and that Marco will move up to another level,” adds Abadie. “On Tuesday when collective testing restarts we’re going to give him the best possible environment to fight at the front and clinch the championship!”

Saxo Bank, the trading and investment specialist, will sponsor Marco Sørensen in his new role with Tech 1. A long term sponsor of other sports, particularly cycling, Saxo Bank decided earlier this year to enter motor sports at a serious level in 2014 when it announced it would support the Lotus Formula 1 Team.

Saxo Bank is excited about joining forces with Tech 1 and will be very visible on Marco Soerensen’s Renault World Series car.

“Saxo Bank’s sports sponsorships are always ambitious. We are in it to win and to give our clients and partners great experiences. Saxo Bank is delighted to aim for the title in Renault WS in 2014 with Marco and Tech 1”, says co-CEO Lars Seier Christensen.

Tech 1 Racing will announce the name of the Dane’s team-mate in the next few days.
