Sergey Sirotkin has been confirmed with French team ART Grand Prix for the 2016 GP2 series campaign.
Revelation of 2015 by finishing 3rd of the championship with Rapax, the Russian driver signs with ART Grand Prix for his second year in GP2 Series.
Since he started single-seaters, Siroktin – backed by Russian program SMP– has always been able to fight for the championship. He also has been a test driver for Sauber back in 2014.
He comments:
“I am very happy to join ART Grand Prix because it is a great family who has the culture of motorsports. I am sure we will live a very exciting season.”
Best rookie last year with a modest car, his regularity in the points placed him on the podium on the championship.
Sébastien Philippe, team manager, does not hide his expectations:
“We have been extremely impressed by his debuts in this high-leveled championship where Sergey has been fast on one lap and been extremely strong and clever during races.”
By signing with reigning team, Sirotkin is one of the main favorites for the title alongside Alex Lynn who stays with DAMS, Mitch Evans who will spend his fourth year in the category with Campos Racing or Raffaele Marciello who confirmed he would be present in the championship in 2016.
