Sauber Motorsport has taken another step towards the transition into Audi F1 Team by setting up an engineering center in UK.

Considering that Sauber has primarily run its team from the Hinwil base for decades, The Swiss outfit expanded to Germany after a buyout by Audi. As they near the 2026 start, the German manufacturer together with the Swiss team decided to open up an engineering base in United Kingdom.

The team announced the plan of setting-up a new technical centre namely, ‘Sauber Motorsport Technology Centre UK’, with the motive to capture the engineering market of the ‘Motorsport Valley’ in United Kingdom and expand Audi’s technical capabilities going forward.

Sauber Motorsport is in evaluation process of a proper location around the areas in Bicester, Silverstone and Milton Keynes, with the goal to be ready by summer of 2025. It will largely be an existing structure rather than Audi buying land to set-up a totally new structure.

“We are excited to establish our technical centre in the UK to complement our key site in Hinwil, which will continue to lead our main engineering operations and experience the largest team growth,” said Mattia Binotto.

“Expanding into the UK allows us to remain close to one of the world’s most dynamic motorsport ecosystems. Our vision is to create a strong, collaborative network across Hinwil and the UK, driving innovation and performance.”
