Japan’s Kimiya Sato will be Sauber’s reserve driver for this weekend’s 2013 Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka, the team have announced.
Sato, 24, who tested for the Swiss squad at the young driver test at Silverstone earlier this year, will also conduct a straight-line aero test for them at Vairano, Italy, on October 18.
Sato, from Hyogo prefecture (and no relation to former Jordan and Honda driver Takuma Sato), finished third in last year’s German F3 championship and is currently second the 2013 Auto GP standings.
