Logan Sargeant has decided to pull out of the ELMS run with IDEC Sport and Genesis Magma Racing weeks before 2025 season start.
After he was announced to move to sportscar racing and join IDEC Sport for 2025 in the LMP2 class in Europe Le Mans Series, Sargeant has decided to pull out from the championship weeks before the start of the 2025 season.
Sargeant was due to team-up with Jamie Chadwick and Mathys Jaubert in the #18 ORECA 07 in LMP2. It was likely a stepping stone for the American to potentially be part of the team’s Hypercar/LMDh line-up in 2026 when they were to partner Hyundai/Genesis.
While it is not clear why Sargeant decided to pull out, but a statement from IDEC Sport noted about him moving away from the sport. Whether it means sportscar racing or racing on the whole, it can only be firmed when the American releases a statement of his own.
“Following the decision of Logan Sargeant to stepping away from the sport to pursue other interests, IDEC SPORT and Genesis Magma Racing are taking note of his decision and will announce his substitute in the next few days. We wish Logan all the best in his future projects,” said IDEC Sport in a short statement.
Meanwhile, ELMS posted on their social media about the news as well. “IDEC Sport Racing has announced that Logan Sargeant has decided to withdraw and will not be part of the No. 18 Oreca 07 lineup for the 2025 ELMS season.
“We fully respect the decision of the American driver and wish him the best of luck in his next adventure. See you soon, Logan!” The American racer was dropped by Williams midway in 2024 and was gearing up for a sportscar run. He event tested the indyCar machinery with Meyer Shank Racing in the winter.
