Two more drivers have been confirmed for the 2019 FIA Formula 3 Championship with Logan Sergeant joining Carlin and HWA Racelab adding Bent Viscaal.
The line-up at Carlin Buzz Racing for the 2019 F3 is complete now with the British team signing Sargeant alongside Felipe Drugovich and Teppei Natori, as the American takes a big step up in his single-seater career.
After finishing third in the British F4 in 2017 while taking the rookie class, Sargeant ended up fourth in the Formula Renault Eurocup 2.0 – scoring race wins in both the championships as he moves up to F3.
“I am super happy to be joining Carlin for the 2019 FIA Formula 3 Championship,” said Sargeant. “We’ve had great success together in the past in F4 and I can’t wait to be back with them.
“I have high expectations and I know if we continue to work together well as a team we can bring this form over to Formula 3. We definitely have the potential to be right at the front so I have no doubt that we can fight for the championship.”
Team boss Trevor Carlin added: “It is fantastic to welcome Logan back to Carlin for the upcoming 2019 season. We last worked together in 2017 in the British Formula 4 Championship, so we know him well and know how great he is to work with.
“Logan has matured so much in and out of the car since we last worked with him and I’m really excited to see what he can do this season with all of us here at Carlin Buzz Racing.” Sargeant announcement came after HWA Racelab named Viscaal as its second driver.
The new single-seater outfit announced Keyvan Andres last week as its first driver with Viscaal now joining in. After finishing second in the SMP F4 NEZ and third F4 Spanish championships in 2017, he followed up with second in Euroformula Open in 2018.
“The level of success that HWA enjoyed in the DTM is very impressive,” said Viscaal. “As such, I am delighted to be part of the new Formula 3 team at HWA RACELAB. The first few days with the team have been very positive and you can feel that there is a good spirit.
“For me, this season is all about learning as much as possible. I am looking forward to the challenge of the new Formula 3 series. They are going to be exciting, high-quality races. The car has more horsepower than I am used to, but I will soon get used to that.”
HWA Racelab’s Thomas Strick added:”I am pleased to be able to welcome a very talented young racing driver to our new Formula 3 team, in the form of Bent Viscaal. The systematic and optimal promotion of youngsters is at the forefront of our involvement in Formula 3.
“Bent has shown his huge potential in the past. We are now looking to support him as much as possible with his further development. I am sure that both parties will benefit in the end.”
