Logan Sargeant says he hasn’t done anything different in the last few F1 races to have an improved run, as he is still trying to have a better Saturday.
It hasn’t been a year that Williams’ Sargeant would have hoped for in his rookie F1 season. He has been under pressure all-through and continues to be with his seat yet to be confirmed. The last few rounds has been slightly fruitful though.
Even via disqualification of others, Sargeant managed to secure his first point in US GP. He was running well in Mexico GP as well until an unfortunate retirement while he was 11th in Brazil GP. It has been an improved race runs, but he knows qualifying has been an issue.
He hasn’t done anything different in recent times but it is just constant improvements. He wants to do better on a Saturday still. “That’s all been work in progress from the start of the year,” said Sargeant. “I haven’t really changed anything other than just continue to work hard, keep trying to build on each weekend.
“Look at myself through the free practices and then look where everyone else is when we get to qualifying. But other than that, we’ve just been going through the same procedures as always and just feel like cleaning some things up. Yeah, it has been a few good races but not good qualifying so that’s the bit we need to get together.
“I think it’s been, like you said, a food few Sundays on the bounce, which is nice. But yeah, as I said, Saturday’s haven’t gone as well, for multiple different reasons. I think it’s all there. Just need to do it,” summed up Sargeant, who is not too feeling affected by the team wanting to see-through the season to decide about his future.
“I mean, it is what it is,” said Sargeant. “I’m just taking it race by race. I think, as I said, Sunday’s are getting stronger and stronger. Now. It’s just about getting qualifying together. Take it race by race, enjoy every weekend and wherever leaves us, it does.”
