While the decision on Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen was awaited, the FP2 in F1 Sao Paulo GP (Brazil GP) kicked-off with the former using a different rear assembly of same spec as the one impounded by the the FIA to be checked upon for DRS infringement.

It was a fairly sedate FP2 session with most focusing on race runs, where Alpine’s Alonso topped with a 1m11.238s lap from Red Bull’s Verstappen (1m12.102s) and Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas (1m12.355s) after a late lap from the Finn.

It pushed Alpine’s Esteban Ocon (1m12.407s) to fourth from Mercedes’ Hamilton (1m12.741s), pushing Red Bull’s Sergio Perez (1m12.903s) to sixth from Alfa Romeo’s Antonio Giovinazzi (1m12.997s).

The Ferrari pair of Carlos Sainz (1m13.078s) and Charles Leclerc (1m13.099s) ended up eighth and ninth from Alfa Romeo’s Kimi Raikkonen (1m13.355s) in the Top 10 as Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll dropped out to be 11th.

The McLaren pair were 12th and 13th with Daniel Ricciardo ahead of Lando Norris, while AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly was 14th with teammate Yuki Tsunoda in 16th behind Williams’ George Russell. Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel was 17th then.

Williams’ Nicholas Latifi was 18th from the Haas pair of Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin in a session which had strong gust of winds and some had their lap deleted for track limits. It was mixed bag in terms of fastest time on soft and medium tyres.
