In an unsurprising news, Carlos Sainz’s longtime sponsor Estrella Galicia 0,0 has moved to partner with McLaren from the 2019 F1 season onward.

The Spanish brand’s non-alcoholic beer Estrella Galicia 0,0 has been a personal sponsor of Sainz since 2013 and has moved F1 teams as the Spaniard with it first partnering with Toro Rosso in 2016-2017 and then moving to Renault in 2018.

With Carlos Sainz switching to McLaren from 2019 onward, the brand has also signed a multi-year deal with the Woking-based outfit. The logos of the brand will be featured on the 2019 F1 car, the MCL34, as well as he drivers’ race overalls.

We are delighted to announce this partnership with Estrella Galicia 0,0, which is built on shared values of quality, craft and heritage,” said Zak Brown, McLaren Racing CEO. “Estrella Galicia 0,0 is a great supporter of our sport and young racing talent.

So what better time to join our team than alongside our new and exciting driver line-up [featuring Sainz and Lando Norris]. I look forward to enjoying a bottle of Estrella Galicia 0,0 at track and seeing our fans do the same.”

Estrella Galicia 0,0’s CEO, Ignacia Rivera added: “Today marks a milestone for Estrella Galicia 0,0 as we are announcing a partnership with one of the most important global brands in the racing industry.

Craft, tradition, innovation and high quality are just three examples of the common values that both companies share and with such a talented young driver line-up, we feel that the match-up with our philosophy couldn’t be better.

We can’t wait to enjoy this season with McLaren and all their fans, it will be fantastic to toast with Estrella Galicia 0,0 to all the great things that are yet to come.” This is the second sponsorship announcement from McLaren after signing with One Plus in the winter.

The news comes at a time when Sainz’s rivals’ Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas and Renault’s Nico Hulkenberg has lost their own longtime sponsors, the Wihuri Group and DEKRA respectively ahead of the start of the 2019 F1 season.
