Carlos Sainz Jr won the first race this weekend at Motorland Aragón. Rowland and Martsenko complete a non-disputed podium.
Perhaps this is going to be Carlos Sainz’s championship. The rally driver’s son placed his DAMS ten seconds before Martsenko’s Comtec Racing, which was second. These two drivers escaped from the others since the first lap without offering any fight between them. Gapped by ten seconds, third classified Oliver Rowland was twenty seconds far from them.
Stockinger, fourth, has been pushing Rowland in the last part of the race, with no results. Yet he has made a great career, coming seventh and after a great overtaking to Amberg at the end of the Motorland’s circuit straight.
Stockinger’s teammate, Matthieu Vaxiviere, has been fighting hard for Merhi’s sixth position, but he could not overtake him and finished seventh while demonstrating the competitiveness of Lotus, which have won nine positions between the two drivers during the race.
Carlos Sainz Jr finished the race looking very happy, celebrating the victory with a move off track that has been investigated by the stewards. “I’m very happy because I have been looking forward this race for a long time, and everything was perfect, I could win this race in front of my fans and in my country.”, he said, optimistic for tomorrow.
