Sainz Jr takes the pole at Spa

Carlos Sainz Jr. got the fourth pole of the six possible in the current season of Formula Renault 3.5. He was the strongest on the track on Saturday at Spa, with time of 1.58,681.

 

On the first row of Saturday’s race two cars in the Red Bull colours: debutant FR3.5 Pierre Gasly showed the second result, yielding 0.121 seconds. Driver Arden, moreover, became the fastest rookie.

Sergey Sirotkin, who led protocol for five minutes before the chequered flag was able to improve time in the decisive try, but still remained third, behind Gasly with 0,016.

Not counting protocol shutting Roman Mavlanov, all participants have kept within qualification by 7-kilometer ring in 1.2 seconds! In two cases the gap between the drivers accounted for only one-thousandth.

Oliver Rowland, occupying second place in the Drivers’ Championship, will start today’s race in only the tenth, while in the first six seats won Richie Stanaway, Roberto Merhi and Pietro Fantin.
