Valentino Rossi broke his bad luck in the qualifyings and has taken pole position in the Dutch GP which takes place at Assen. The Italian rider set a a great laptime ahead of the Suzuki of Aleix Espargaró and the Honda riders Marc Márquez and Dani Pedrosa.
During Q1 Aleix Espargaró qualifyed easily for the next round, he had to make sure that the single time he set let him ride in the Q2 . Behind the fight was over matched, and in the last minute Danilo Petrucci scores a lap fast enough to qualify beside the Suzuki rider. In the knock-out zone, are riders like Stefan Bradl, Yonny Hernandez, Scott Redding and Hector Barbera, among others, who were more likely to have missed the cut.
Once in Q2, all riders have jumped at the track to set the first two attempts, which Aleix Espargaró finished first ahead of Crutchlow and Marquez. Lorenzo, Pedrosa and Rossi were placed very close to the leader, just two tenths of difference from first to sixth, which was Dani.
But in the second attempt, Lorenzo was the first to cross the finish line and get second, but did not improve over time, so it fell to eighth place after being overtaken by most riders. Just behind him came a lap by Rossi finishing in record time track and finally give him pole position.
Marc Márquez seemed that could offer resistance with two laps in which sectors improved in the first but missed in the end, remaining finally in third place, just behind a surprising Aleix Espargaró, it seemed that the Suzuki was not so fast today. Dani Pedrosa finished fourth, followed by Pol Espargaro, Andrea Iannone, Cal Crutchlow, Jorge Lorenzo, Maverick Viñales, a disappointing Andrea Dovizioso, Danilo Petrucci and 12th and last position for Bradley Smith.
