Robert Kubica will be in charge of releasing the new FW41 during a day of filming day tomorrow, Sunday, February 25. The session will take place at the Motorland circuit in Aragon, before landing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to run the first week of testing next Monday.
It is surprising that the first driver to get on the car of the Grove squad will be the reserve driver, who ended up without the starting position for the benefit of Sergey Sirotikin. Both, the Russian and his teammate Lance Stroll will go up to Williams on the first day of testing in Barcelona.
Several teams have been competing in filming days to start the new engines and make the first kilometers with the 2018 cars. Red Bull and Mercedes in Silverstone, Toro Rosso in Misano, McLaren in Navarra and Haas, Sauber and Renault at Montmeló are some of the examples of the teams that have put their new cars on track.
The data collection in this preseason is essential to have a driver with a good experience in the back, and before the young lineup of Williams for this season with the departure of Felipe Massa, the oldest of the English structure is Kubica. The Polish, despite not running since 2010 officially, can be very beneficial for the team to improve the car this winter.
Therefore, Kubica will run on Tuesday and Wednesday in the afternoon session of official tests in Montmeló. On the morning of Tuesday Sirotkin will get into the car, and the morning session the next day the driver will be Stroll. The fourth and last day the two official drivers will be the ones who will run on the track, to finish making the appropriate adjustments before the second week of the preseason.
