After just ten races of the 2026 NASCAR Cup Championship, Richard Childress Racing (RCR) has decided to make a new crew chief change for Kyle Busch. Andy Street takes over in place of Jim Pohlman, who has been moved to a leadership position within the competition department.
So far, RCR has achieved only one entry into the top ten, with a tenth place finish by Busch at Talladega Superspeedway. Pohlman, who came from a successful career as a crew chief for Justin Allgaier in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series, will remain within the organization but will focus on his new leadership role.
Currently, Kyle Busch is in 27th place in the points championship, with the only positive note during his collaboration with Pohlman being the pole win for the Daytona 500. The new crew chief, Andy Street, had previously worked with Busch at the end of last season, following the departure of Randall Burnett, RCR’s former crew chief.
Street has spent two decades at RCR and has served as the team’s performance director. With experience that includes eleven victories as a crew chief in 167 NASCAR O’Reilly races, Street took Austin Hill to the championship final in 2024, and also helped Myatt Snider achieve his only victory within the NOAPS championship.
Richard Childress, president and CEO of RCR, emphasized that this change aims to place people in the best possible positions for success. He and Mike Verlander, the president of RCR, have expressed their confidence in the team’s talent while highlighting the need for better results as the season progresses.
